Student-made video honoring Melissa Collins premieres at 2013 NEA Foundation Awards Gala

Melissa Collins, a second grade teacher at John P. Freeman Optional School in Memphis, TN, was honored as one of the top educators in the nation at the NEA Foundation’s  2013 Salute to Excellence in Education Gala in Washington, DC on Feb. 8, 2013.  She is one of five educators to receive the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence and $10,000. Her students have already benefited from her award. This fall, they received digital arts training, which they used to create this original video honoring their teacher.
